Free broadband in our hotel room means PL and I have access to the wonderful world of blogging in the Pearl of the Orient. Yes, yes, I can hear some of you screeching already, "What the hell are you doing?! You're on holiday, you're supposed to be out having a wild time!"
Heh... I know, I know... Unfortunately, PL and I are both totally zonked from having woken up at 4am (After a scant 2 hours of sleep!), just so we could make our flight... As such, we're quite happy to take our 1st night slow and conserve our energies for all the stuff we want to do for the rest of our trip.
Here's a rundown on our 1st day...
Getting to our hotel from the airport was a mini adventure in itself. As spoilt as this makes me sound, I've never bothered to make a transfer via public transport. I either cab the trip (Cabs, to me, don't really qualify as public transport!), or someone picks me up. Today, therefore, was a 1st for both PL and myself... We took a bus from the airport to Causeway Bay and walked the remaining 100m to reach our hotel from the bus stop. *chuckles* Yes, we're both very proud of ourselves.
We then took a quick break to wash up and grab some lunch. Oh... Which reminds me. I need to bitch... The food served on the Valuair flight was horrendous! Damn sandwich looked like someone'd slapped 3-week old coleslaw between 2 slices of stale bread. The butter cake that the accompaniment was so dry it was crumbling to bits in the wrapper. Errrgh! I know airplane "cuisine" is suppose to suck but what I was served today just brought my perception of crappy food to a whole new level...
Anyway... PL and I then hit the malls. Shopping here's quite a different experience. Not only are styles more quirky than back home, there's an energy in the air that seems to spur 1 into a purchasing frenzy. Heh... However, as much as the both of us wanted to splurge, we managed to practise some restraint, limiting our buys to a funky pair of pants, a really cool watch and a couple of snazzy sunnies.
The plan for day 2 is to hit this wholesale market in a place called Sham Shui Po, where there's supposed to be tons of cheap clothes up for grabs. If it's as good as we've heard, it's there that I foresee PL and myself going a little crazy. *crosses fingers*
Ok. I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open and my mind clear long enough to remain coherent... Plus, the comfy bed with its fuffy white doona keeps crooking this seductive, beckoning finger... I'm going to go lie down and watch LOST on AXN until I f-f-f-fall aslee... Zzzzzzzzzzzzz...
