About The Giggle

Heh... Once again, many thanks to my friend, Adrian the comp-wonder. This time, his little post gave me my 1st laugh of the day. Here're my favorite bits...

Here's what'll happen to your kids
if you spend all your time playing Battlefield 2...
Omigawd... Isn't that the cutest thing? Hahaha...
I love the little baby helmet thingie the kid's got on. Heh!

Moving on... Here's what'll happen to your kids
if you spend any more time playing Warcraft...

About Top Gun

I recently caught "Top Gun" again on HBO... And was reminded of several things simultaneously... How I...

1) Fell in love with Tom Cruise way back when, at the tender age of 11. (Up till then, I was mad for Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle in "Dirty Dancing"! Hah!) And yes, I know that "Top Gun" came out in 1986... I only watched it 3 years after that. I was a slowpoke. Bite me.

2) Rushed out to buy the cassette tape of the damn soundtrack and listened to "Take My Breath Away" and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" over and over... Till the freaking thing got stuck in my tape deck. Man... I was not happy.

3) Wanted to marry an air force pilot, but only if he had a funky munky nickname on his helmet like MAVERICK or ICEMAN. "GOOSE" somehow didn't quite make the cut. :P Hahaha...

4) Realized just how attractive a man in uniform could be. Hell... It made me put myself through "A Few Good Men" just to catch Cruise in a uniform again... And I don't care how good that book / movie was, sitting through it is NOT a picnic at the age of 11!

5) Decided that bomber jackets with lots of iron-on patches were the way to go in terms of fashion. Paired with white t-shirts and jeans and aviator sunglasses. ULTIMATE STYLE or whaaaaaat. *snorts*

Heh... In short, watching the film again brought back a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling. Remember my entry on movies a few weeks back? I think I'm gonna add "Top Gun" to the "Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me" list. *grins*

About Knowing Me

Got this quiz from Missduhr, who got it from someone else who got it from someone else who got it from someone else (You get the picture!)...

GET TO KNOW YOURSELF BETTER

Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

Hahaha... Some would claim that I'm overtly straightforward, i.e. I don't know when to shut up even when I've put my foot in my mouth in the worst possible way.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You are not looking merely for a girl/boyfriend - you are looking for your life partner. Perhaps you should be more open-minded about who you spend time with. The person you are looking for might hide their charm under their exterior.

Gack. That makes me sound a little too desperate for comfort. *ponders* I guess there's a certain level of truth though... I see little point in playing games nowadays. Either the person's for me or he isn't. I go a lot on gut instinct and it's hardly let me down before. Why bother wasting time at this point, don't you think?

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

Hah... Just proves the point I made earlier.

The seriousness of your love:
You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Once again, proves the point I made earlier. 1 question though... If I've already fallen deeply but it's not as beautiful as this claims it should be, does it mean he's not the right person? *perplexed look*

Your views on education:
You may not like to study but you have many practical ideas. You listen to your own instincts and tend to follow your heart, so you will probably end up with an unusual job.

Ahmmm... If unusual translates into dealing with clients who constantly AMAZE me with their levels of stupidity, yes, I have an extremely unusual job.

The right job for you:
You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

My dream job is to be a tai tai, i.e. a rich housewife, with little else on her mind besides devising new ways of spending her filthy rich husband's money. "Oh... Is that the new Prada? I'll take 1 in every color you have darrrrrrrr-link..."

How do you view success:
You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

Not 100% true. I actually suffer from constant bouts of self-doubt. Hmmm... Maybe it's because I kinda fell into the industry I'm in now. It wasn't exactly what I'd term as a deliberate choice.

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Bingo. Uh huh. Control-freak. That's me. Ask Missduhr... She's constantly telling me that I have to learn to live and let live on certain aspects of the job. Let go, April... Just let go... Wooooo-shaaaaaaaaaa!

Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Wah. I sound like a real 大姐大, with major emotional issues. *snorts*

*puts on her ABBA CD* C'mon... You know the words... Everybody now... "Knowing me knowing you... Uh huhhhhhh... There is nothing we caaaaaaan doooooo... Knowing me knowing you..."

About "D" Eye Candy

Heh... Just so we're all clear, my earlier post about XX wasn't a chest-thumping, "my-blog-is-better-than-her-blog" thing. I appreciate all the comments on how some prefer reading my nonsensical ramblings to hers though, narcissistic bitch that I am. (Look Ma! I'm so popular! ;P)

Anyway... :)

I just came back from watching "Initial D" with
Missduhr, her bro and Jules. I alternated between smiling like a sap whenever Jay came onscreen and glowering at that bug-eyed cow his character was dating for the entire length of the movie. Hahaha... I'm sorry... I don't care how attractive / nice / sweet she is, any woman who gets to put her hands on Jay is a cow to me...

Before I give in to temptation and bore everyone to death by going on a whole "how-hunky-and-wonderful-Jay-is" spiel... *grins impishly* I must say that Edison Chen and Shawn Yue are totally gorgeous too. The whole damn show was made up of so much eye candy, Missduhr and I barely knew where to look. So we mostly just sat there and simpered. Heh! :P

Now, since my cable modem is fucked and my IE refuses to load any Jay-Chou.net webpages for me to find out, could somebody who's in-the-know please tell me when the soundtrack and the DVD are being released? :)

About Tongue Biting

I shall start off this entry by apologizing for jumping on the bandwagon, and rambling on about a topic that's been blogged and flogged to death by a million other people, in a million different ways. (Hey! Flogged... Blogged... A rhyme! I'm such a poet sometimes. Hah! :P)

I also need to qualify that I'm not 1 of the "AXXA" (Yep. That's my little label for all the XX slammers out there - "Anti-Xiaxue-Activists"). On the contrary, I generally enjoy her entries. I might not always agree with what she says, but she's entitled to her own opinion and her blog's an entertaining enough read, so who cares?

Which brings me to my main point. (Yes, I do have 1 and I know that I'm taking my time getting to it but I'm in a rambling mood... So there! :P) I've just read
XX's latest blog entry on the whole SPG fiasco and how she's suffering from the backlash of her rather catty comments some days back.

I quote...
"I cannot take it anymore. I've developed a phobia for reading my mail, I don't dare to look at the comments links anymore. I don't have to take all these. Please don't fight anymore, please stop saying such mean things, I cannot take it anymore. I am breaking down into a million pieces."
My feelings after reading this heartwrenching plea? Zilch. Nadah. Zippity-doo-dah. (Oh! And it's "I don't have to take all THIS." Sorry... Grammar nazi at work.) Heh... The reason for my lack of sympathy? Besides the fact that I can be a coldhearted bitch at times, I simply can't understand why XX didn't see this coming. I mean...

With Photoshop-ed images and little comments like these on another girl's boobs...

"I don't want to sound mean, but in fact I see nothing wonderful about it. Average, so very average."

"I told T, (one of those many deluded men who thinks her bod is good) "Huh, don't you think her neh neh look very funny?""

XX gets all upset when her inbox gets flooded with emails that contain snippets like...
"You have demeaned yourself, and all Singapore females, for being a foul mouthed and petty toad to be so obviously jealous of someone else stepping into the limelight, whether intended or not."

"I would advise you to shut up if you have nothing intelligent to say. Your New Paper columns are a waste of ink and space."
Now just so we're all clear... I sure as hell ain't saying that XX should keep her mouth shut. I think she's as entitled to her opinion as SPG is to her boobie pics. But for fuck sakes, don't play the game if you can't afford the stakes.

I guess XX's still learning that being 1 of Singapore's most famous bloggers (How many zillion site hits does she get a day again?) comes with more than pretty pictures of her in the newspapers and a complimentary Zouk membership card.

It comes with a drawback that every kind celebrity deals with... A little something called public scrutiny. Don't wanna be affected by hate mail? Don't fucking read it. Don't even wanna get hate mail? Drop the bitching and stick to blogging insipid little entries about what you ate for lunch. Something along the lines of "I had fish porridge today. It was so much tastier than the prawn noodles I ate yesterday. I think I shall have nasi padang tomorrow. I like nasi padang too... And mee soto and etc etc etc" should do just fine.

Don't wanna do that because you'll be letting let your fans down?

"I know readers like me to maintain my honesty even though I am so mainstream now, so I try my best to. I really do you know."
Sorry hun, but you should know by now that you can't please everyone and that as a public figure, so to speak, you're an easier target as compared to the average, anonymous Joe.

If you feel that your priorities lie in whatever obligations you have to your readers, fine... Then deal with the flak you're gonna get every time you express an opinion that's even remotely controversial... And take comfort in the fact that for every person that slams you, there's probably 1 that sticks up for you. Can't take the heat? Then don't start a fire. It's as simple as that.

I guess I felt a sudden need to blog about this because of my recent run-in with the evil that's called "self-censorship"... Uh huh. I didn't want to risk any splatters landing on me from the shit hitting the fan, so I threw the whole sack of dung out before anything could happen. It sucked but the possible consequences of not doing so were too damaging for me to do anything else...

Speaking of consequences, I'd better end this little ramble right here. There'll be hell to pay if I can't wake up in time for my morning meeting tomorrow. *grumpy face*

About Dirty Dancing

You've read about my love for the movie here, is it therefore, any surprise that I've blogged about this as soon as I read it on Lorraine's site?

Dirty Dancing The Musical

Trust the Aussies to come up with it. This should have been done EONS ago! Please let it come to Singapore... Please please please... Heh...

About Boss Bashing

Apparently, my recent posts haven't been scandalous enough for some. I never realized that a blog had to be scandalous to be deemed an interesting read. *rolls eyes* :P Anyway, like I've said before, I'll blog about what I want, when I want... The rest of the world be damned. Xiaxue I am not (Thank Christ!), nor do I have any aspirations towards being any other sort of "blog celeb".

Heh...

{{{ Post Deleted. }}}

As much as I loathe having to practise self-censorship, I've just discovered that there are people within the office who read my blog. To avoid any unnecessary hassle, I've had little choice but to remove my little rant from last night. Sigh...

About Right & Wrong

What is it about the wrong man that so many of us girls can't seem to resist?

Damned if I know... *shrugs and grins*

I know all about, about your reputation...
And now it's bound to be a heartbreak situation...
But I can't help it if I'm helpless
Every time that I'm where you are...
You walk in and my strength walks out the door...
Say my name and I can't fight it any more...
Oh I know, I should go...
But I need your touch just too damn much...

Loving you, isn't really something I should do...
I shouldn't wanna spend my time with you...
Well I should try to be strong...
But baby you're the right kind of wrong...
Yeah, baby you're the right kind of wrong.

It might be a mistake, a mistake I'm making...
But what you're giving I am happy to be taking...
Cause no one's ever made me feel
The way I feel when I'm in your arms...
They say your something I should do without...
They don't know what goes on when the lights go out...
There's no way to explain...
All the pleasure is worth all the pain...

Loving you, isn't really something I should do...
I shouldn't wanna spend my time with you...
Well I should try to be strong...
But baby you're the right kind of wrong...
Yeah, baby you're the right kind of wrong.

I should try to run but I just can't seem to...
Cause every time I run, you're the one I run to...
Can't do without... What you do to me...
I don't care if I'm in too deep...

Yeah, baby you're the the right kind of wrong.

About Bloody Bugs

I hate bugs.

I was "chased" out of my room today by a HUGE ASS mofo of a bumble bee that zipped into my room while I was smoking. I didn't even bother stubbing my cigarette out, I was up and out of the door within 5 seconds of the bastard zipping past my face. And since it's a Sunday and no 1 was home to help me chase it out or smash it dead, I spent the rest of my day in my brother's room cos I'm a chicken shit who's totally terrified of any member of the insect species.

Fortunately, my bro had borrowed all of my new DVDs, so I was able to entertain myself till my maid got home... I ended up watching 3 movies back to back.

Yep. That was my Sunday. Horribly exciting, no? :P

About Going Into Overdrive

In April's little world, you know you've been working too hard when...

1) You stagger home by 11pm and your mom/husband/boyfriend/dog goes, "Wah! Back so early ah?"

2) Your last delicious, home-cooked meal dates back to the time your grandmother was still getting laid. (Urgh. Ok, that was a GROSS exaggeration in all aspects but you get the picture!)

3) Your social circle has wittled down to your colleagues, your clients, your suppliers and whatever imaginery friends your fucked-up brain has conjured up.

4) Your diet consists primarily of pizza and Chinese take-out and pizza and Chinese take-out and pizza... Since no-fucking-where-else delivers to your office.

5) You find a need to maintain 2 pots of moisturizer/tubes of toothpaste/bottles of vaginal douche/boxes of tampons etc... 1 for the home and 1 for the office.

6) You turn up at 9.30pm for dinner and your friends go, "Hey! You're only 2 hours late!"

7) Your constant bed companion is a mind-melting migraine instead of a bout of mind-blowing monkey sex.

8) You have enough potato chips/cup noodles/instant soup/chocolates bars in your office drawer to wait out a 3rd world war.

9) Your room starts to looks uncomfortably and unnaturally neat after the clutter of your desk.

10) You contemplate investing in a portable TV, just so you can work till past 10pm on Monday nights, and still be able to catch "Desperate Housewives" on Channel 5.

Sigh...

April wants to go on leave. April desperately needs a vacation. Especially since April can't seem to stop referring to herself in the 3rd person. April is going off to her photoshoot now. April will blog another time.

Absolutely April. Absolutely Nuts. :(

About The Whirlwind

It's one of those days when you have so many things to do, you feel like you can't breathe. Not because you're afraid that you won't be able to do what you're suppose to but because you want to do every damn thing at once!

Yes, yes, I hear you... Breathe April, breathe!

The reason I'm blogging as I nibble at lunch is to take my mind off the whirlwind I have circling around inside my head for a few minutes before my brain explodes. Hah. Talk about a long sentence without any punctuation. You can so tell I'm all wired up, can't you?

*makes conscious effort to slow down and remove crazed look from face*

Fine. Change topic. The fucking useless bitch at work has been out of the office since yesterday. According to our boss, she took leave for "important personal reasons". We later found out from a reliable source that these "important personal reasons" boiled down to... (Drum roll please!) A quarrel with her boyfriend, who lives overseas. She therefore had to run off to pacify him, ensure that he doesn't see her for the cunt that she is, and run off with some other chick with a smaller ass and less saggy tits.

*takes deep breath to avoid turning purple*

Why does that annoy me to the extent that I want to stab her repeatedly with my mechanical pencil?

For one, the bitch's last day is in 3 weeks. Why the hell is she being allowed to take leave while serving her notice for such trivial reasons?!

Also, the bitch has been complaining of being totally overloaded with work. She didn't even have the time to go for Jas' farewell drinks last Thursday, nor did she bother to buy Jas, who's her direct 1-down, a present. It was conveniently left to the rest of us, since she's "up to her ears" in work.

Despite the bitch's meagre WIP report, she's apparently soooooo busy, the boss had to offload her projects onto the rest of the team. Yet the bitch can afford to take MC on Monday, scoot off from work at 7pm on Tuesday AND TAKE TWO DAYS LEAVE TO VISIT HER BOYFRIEND!!! What the fuck!!!

Jin du lan. Jin disgusted.

Maybe she'll do all of us a fucking huge favor and get kidnapped by a bunch of kangeroos while she's in Australia. Maybe the kangeroos will do us an even bigger fucking favor and gang rape her while she's being roasted upside-down over an open fire by a bunch of pygmies. Haaaaa! Yes, I tend to get blood-thirsty when I'm pissed off. :P

About Movie Tags

Heh... Got tagged by Jules some time back so here I am, prattling about my favorite silver-screen hits... (Yes lah Ju, I know you tagged me ages ago but I haven't been blog surfing much...) :P

Total number of films I own on DVD/video:

Crikey. Errr... About 50, give or take. DVDs, not videos. I threw all my video tapes out yonks back.

The last film I bought:

Errr... *looks frantically around* Think it's "Be Cool". Which I didn't find all that cool. *shrugs* Then again, I was never a huge fan of "Get Shorty". *rolls eyes*

Last film I watched:

Errr... "Head In The Clouds", some tragic war romance flick starring Charlize Theron, Stuart Townsend and Penelope Cruz.

Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
  • Dirty Dancing - The "feel-good" movie that never fail sto perk me up. *wistful sigh* Plus, I fell in love for the 1st time at the age of 9, when my mom took me to watch the original movie in the cinema.
  • Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights - Man... I'd samba / rhumba / salsa / mambo with Diego Luna anytime. Plus I loved the outfits in the show!
  • Practical Magic - It's got everything from magic and romance to thrills and suspense. What else can a girl ask for?
  • Interview With A Vampire - For all the same reasons I love "Practical Magic". Just substitute the magic with vampires and the romance with angst. Heh... Oh and there's Mr Pitt to drool over too!
  • Errr... Ahhh... Uhmmm... I can't remember anymore! *whines*
Tag 5 people and have them put this in their blog:
  • Princess Liliput
  • Soyabean Tim
  • Adrock2xander
  • McBra
  • Slinky Cat
Yawn... Ok. Back to work! Toodles!

About Nups

I was watching "Desperate Housewives" on Monday night... It was the episode where Carlos slaps Gabrielle with a post-nuptial agreement, in which she'll walk away with nothing if she files for a divorce while he's in prison. Gaby, of course, balks at the suggestion and refuses. He hits her and physically forces her into signing it. She walks out, screws her ex-gardener and winds up pregnant.

All this between 2 people who claim to be madly in love... Most would pass the entire episode off as a theatrical overplay of reality but I know from personal experience that life isn't necessarily less dramatic than art. *shrugs*

The show also got me wondering how I'd react if my future husband or husband asked me to sign a pre or post-nup...

I think I'd be bloody pissed off. I mean... Isn't that tantamount to saying that "I think this marriage might fail so I'm circumventing all the problems we'll face then now." That's a fucking good mindset to have towards the person you've promised to honor and cherish. *rolls eyes* Plus, doesn't demanding a pre or post-nup show an utter lack of trust in the relationship?

Then again, I'm not stinking rich. So I probably don't understand the true implications on being desired for reasons that go beyond me being me.

On a lighter note... Omigawd John the gardener is so fucking hot I wanna cover him in whipped cream and eat it off him 1 slow mouthful at a time. *slaps hand over mouth* Hahaha... Ok, I'll stop now...

Heh... My desire to ravish him came through even in the "
Which Desperate Housewife Are You?" quiz I took... Check it out!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
April is the Gabrielle of Desperate Housewives!
You could say that life's just about pretty dresses and expensive gifts to you, but you're looking for something more. You'll find it someday, as long as you can stay out of trouble. And away from hot young gardeners.

Oh... 1 last thing. Am currently blogging from the office. Am totally annoyed because my comp at home has died! Damn it!

*guilty look as she wonders if it's cos of too many hours of Dungeon Keeper 2*
