About Joan Rivers

I spent a delightful Sunday night watching "The Kumars at Number 42" (The episode featuring Donny Osmond and Westlife) and "Parkinson" on Star World.

1 of the guests on the latter was Joan Rivers. To be honest, I know nothing about this lady beyond the little I remember from Mom's tabloids. However, having listened to what she's had to say for the past 20 minutes, I must say that this spunky 72 year old is who I wanna be when I reach that grand old age. (And we all know from my previous post that I will.) She looks utterly fantastic, she's cool and she's hysterically funny.

Joan Rivers
On plastic surgery: Yes, please! Pull it up, snip it off, make another little person with it! I don't care!
On sex: All my mother told me was "Man gets on top, woman at the bottom". I ended up buying bunk beds!
On marriage: Love and sex have nothing to do with marriage. Jackie Onasiss married that little pig Onasiss. He up and croaked and left her 58 million dollars. Do you have 58 million dollars?
On homosexuality: I am all for gay marriage. Why should only straights suffer through divorce?
On growing old: Look in the mirror, naked, if you're over 50 and you have 2 choices... Death. Or humour.

About Cocktail

Now here are a couple of drinks Tom Cruise should be mixing up instead of the usual margaritas and Pina Coladas. The "April" sounds a little tastier than the "Widowpoison" though (I especially love the "brilliance" bit... Hahaha!). Although I daresay both cocktails are sure to be potent. Heh...

Credits to Jaime for finding this snazzy little "How-To". :)

About The Hitch & The Salsa

THE HITCH - SATURDAY, 26 FEBRUARY

Jules and I were suppose to watch a movie at Great World City. Unfortunately, that silly woman didn't realize while booking the tickets online that they were for a Wednesday screening till after she'd made the purchase. So much for catching the latest Will Smith flick, since I seriously doubt I can make it for any social commitments this week...

Hitch (As defined on
http://www.dictionary.com)
v.
1. Slang - To marry. E.g. "They got hitched last month."
n.
2. An impediment or a delay. E.g. "A hitch in our plans."

Heh... I guess you could say that there was a hitch in us watching "Hitch". :P

We did, however, still head down to Great World to do a little shopping and to have dinner. I ended up buying a strapless dress from Zara (God knows where and when I'll ever have a chance to wear it...) and a pair of cargo capris from WH. Gack... I have gotta stop shopping for a little while. Been too extravagent these past few months...

----------

THE SALSA - SUNDAY, 27 FEBRUARY

Woke up late for an appointment with Marian to watch the dance musical "Lady Salsa". I rushed down to Victoria Theatre, where I was greatly entertained for the next 2 hours by over 20 dancers from Cuba as they mambo-ed, rhumba-ed and salsa-ed around on stage in a dazzling array of colourful costumes and latin music.

http://www.ladysalsa.com Posted by Hello

As I watched, I couldn't help but feel this twinge of envy for their rich heritage and their superb sense of rhythm. 1 of the narrators was a lady well into her 60s, but she was definitely holding her own, grooving and gyrating as much as the performers who were a third her age. I guess for these people, music is as much a part of their souls as dance is in their blood. Perhaps, with enough practise, anybody could execute the series of complicated dance steps they did. I doubt, however, that the passion would be as evident as it was on those Cubans' faces today.

Despite the unlikeliness that I'll ever be hailed as a Salsa sensation, I think I'm going to take up dance classes, and fulfill a dream I've had since I watched "Dirty Dancing" as a 9 year old girl. Anybody else interested? :)

About Werewolves

I've reached the conclusion that I'm a bit of an oddball. I don't think I know a single other person in my social circle that shares my interest in the occult. By that I mean vampire lore, ancient legends and the like...

Now, I've grown use to being the only Buffy fanatic among my group of friends... However, once in a while, I just wish that the people around me knew a little bit more about things that go bump in the night...

Should you be wondering what sparked off this little rant, allow me to backtrack. Some time ago, while I was on my way up to KL, the movie "Van Helsing" was being shown in the coach. This sparked off a conversation between myself and my colleague Jasmine, which eventually led to me asking her the question - Do you know what werewolves are afraid of?

In the weeks since, I've thrown that query at so many people. Would you believe that only 2 people have given me the correct answer? *thumps chest in despair* The variety of responses I've received have left me feeling both amused and bewildered.

I mean... To me, it's common, everyday knowledge that werewolves fear silver, which is why the only way to kill them is to shoot them through the heart with a bullet made of good ol' 925. Others, however...

April: "What are werewolves afraid of?"
Jasmine: "Moon." (Wah piang! I... Errr... Wah piang!)
Jaime: "Gun?"
Kimmie: "I dunno leh."
Jac: "Silver."
(Yeaaaaah! Sister of my soul!)
Bra: "Fire. I think."
Peilin: "Fire. Most animals are."
Brendan: "Water! Wolves are dogs, dogs hate water!"
(Hahaha... Ok lah, Brendan actually knew the answer was silver and was trying to be funny. I just thought I'd post up his reply so you guys could have a giggle too...)
Stephie: "Errrms. No idea man. Some goondu probably said PIGS right?"
Marian: "Daylight! You never see them during the day what!"
(That, my dear, is because werewolves only transform into beasts on nights where there's a full moon. The break of dawn sees them changing back into their human state. Doiiiiiii...)
Varien: The sun?
Debbie: "Moon!" (Kao... *bangs head on table*)
Guy: "Silver bullets." (Ok, I wouldn't call Guy a sister of my soul but I'm pretty impressed he knew the answer.)
My mom: "What's a werewolf? Not the same as vampire right?" (Sigh... I should have known better.)
Daphne: A cross? Waaaaait... No. Fire! (When I finally told her the answer, she went, "Chey... I thought of that!" Hyeaaaa right!)

Shauna: Sunlight. That's why they come out at night what! (No no no!)
Shauna: Try again. Errr... Garlic? Chinese vampires are afraid of garlic... (I give up. Truly.)

About Being Delusional

If you're anything like me, then I'm sure you've spent the last 4 weeks with an eye on the TV screen, cringing as you watch the American Idol auditions.

After much deliberation, I've finally figured out why I put myself through 2 hours of horror every Wednesday and Thursday... The show allows for me to bitch about total strangers - their lack of talent, looks, style and shame - and be totally justified in doing so. Everybody else is doing it and hell, these idiots set themselves up for it by screeching away like buffoons on international television anyway!

It makes you wonder though, how on earth these wackoids can think, even for a fucking second, that they can sing. I've lost count of the number of times I watch them burst into tears, fly into a rage or act dumbfounded when the judges (By the way... Go Cowell!) tell them that they suck. I mean... Hello?! Get a clue?!

I can only conclude that:
1) Many Americans are tone deaf.
2) Many Americans do not know that they are tone deaf.
3) Many Americans are severely delusional.
4) Many Americans do not respond well to truth and honesty, if it means that truth and honesty = criticism about oneself.

For those of you who're thinking of trying out for this year's Singapore Idol, here're a couple of tips from me. If you think they'll be useful, woop-dee-doo... Just don't tell me you went to try out. I seriously doubt our friendship could survive something like that. If you think all my babbling is a total waste of time, woop-dee-doo too... My blog. My babbling. My choice. Tough toasted titty. :P

What not to do to get the judges' attention... Don't...

1) Model yourself after some has-been... Monroe's been dead longer than you've been alive, not everyone looks like Nicole Kidman did in "Moulin Rouge" with fishnet stockings, and the only person who can pull a Foxy Cleopetra is Beyonce. Hey... I don't see you dating Jay-Z, do I? :P

2) Try too hard to stand out. There's a thin line between being unique and being plain ol' fucking queer. Especially when you do "Phantom of the Opera" dressed as a cross between Bozo the clown and Batgirl. Geez...

3) Take your funky obsessions for flora and fauna into the audition room. The term "fruitcake" does, in certain cultures, have negative implications. I also doubt the judges will be impressed at how you had to kill a Yeti just so you could deck yourself out in a new fur coat.

4) Even think about participating in the competition if you're above 30. Hey... If we wanted to see the likes of Paul McCartney and his fellow cronies with wobbly necks up there, we'd call it "Geriatric Idol", wouldn't we? G.I - Hmmm... Has a ring to it.

5) Dress-to-kill unless you're bloody sure it'll impress. Unless, in your books, "dressed-to-kill" means you blind onlookers with nauseating parades of flesh, squeezed into outfits 4 sizes too small, while you sing them to death.

6) Think that "dressed-to-kill" means wearing as little as possible just because you're thin. Trust me. The likelihood that the crass displays of flesh will distract the judges, as well as millions of viewers, from the fact that you're sadly lacking in talent is small. Slim to none actually.

7) Try to "make the earth move" when you don't have the voice to do so. You might just find the "sky tumbling down". Unless you're Mary Roach of course. Bleaaaaah...

The saving grace of the entire show...

Once in a while though, you get a diamond in the rough. Here's why I'm still watching Idol despite all of the above disasters. Call me shallow but hey, a girl's gotta have some eye candy around. And since "Desperate Housewives" is only on every Monday night...

I've always loved a man in uniform... ;)

He's got that bad-boy-rocker thing going for him... So even with a name like Constantine... Drooool.

About The Gang

I seem to be meeting a lot of new people this year, most of them Bra's friends from way back. Not surprisingly, Ed, being the social slut that he is, knows most of them too. Heh...

However, poor ol' me is having severe difficulty remembering who everyone is. For 1, every time I meet them, I'm introduced to like a dozen people at a shot... And that's when my friends bloody remember to introduce us to start with! For another, I have a digustingly bad memory for names and faces.

Since I'm tired of drawing a blank every time Bra or Jac or Ed mention names that they claim I should recognise, I figured that the best way for me to aid my recollection would be to post up this photo we took @ Martha's place on New Year's Day. With a little help from Jac, I've managed to piece together who's who, and will now proceed to stare at this damn pic till all these people's faces become engraved in my brain. Heh heh... :P

About Untelligence

I've always found the quizzes at http://www.sparknotes.com a scream. Haven't checked the site out in ages so I thought I'd give it a go, and I ended up taking this little quirky Q&A.

Quick introduction to the untelligence test...

The untelligence test is not a measure of intelligence, so don't let the name mislead you. Instead, "untelligence" is a measure of your ability to reason in tough situations. The higher your untelligence, the better you are at surviving. Untelligence is a combination of intelligence, observation and guts. Also, just so you know, we've got a bet going on here at SparkNotes. We think women will do better.

And my final results... Don't let them scare you eh. I'm actually a lovely person. Hahaha!

67% untelligent!

The Untelligence Test
Posted by Hello

Here is the custom report of your personality that led our team of geeks to conclude (with confidence) that you are a moderate but excitingly different woman:

The subject shows an astounding level of intelligence, and her sense of observation is one of her best qualities. Considering this, she shows a lot of potential, but that's only part of the equation.

Finally, the subject displayed a pathetic and useless (seriously bad) sense of humor, a nearly satanic lack of morality, and a hot-shot level of self-confidence. The balance of these three traits is important; high levels of confidence, medium levels of morality, and a good level of humor make for the strongest individuals.

About The Tick Tock

Monday, July 25, 2050

Mark that day down in your organizers, palm pilots and diaries babes. According to The Death Clock (http://www.deathclock.com), which I found thanks to Jaime, that's the day I'm going to die.

I'll be 72.

Gack.

I don't want to die at 72. Not that I've given dying much thought, mind you, but when it has crossed my mind, I always reckoned that I'd pass on at the age of 60. With my faculties and all of my body parts - be they naturally saggy or surgically-enhanced perky - still intact. Haha!

I'm not really afraid of death, as in the actual physical bit where your heart stops beating, your brain stops working, blah blah blah... And though the not knowing what happens after has given me some bad moments, that doesn't really freak me out either.

What really scares me is the thought of being old, decrepit, sick and senile. I don't want to be 1 of those crazy old biddies living in a musty, creaky house with 16 cats and no family... Or 1 of those cranky, paranoid geriatrics who drive their sons and daughters to distraction because they can't stop complaining... Or 1 of those poor souls who end up waiting to die as their minds slowly waste away from Alzheimer's...

More importantly, I don't want to be alone. The way I see it, the older you get, the less people you have around you. Especially in this day and age, when nobody I know plans to leave a "clan" of kids behind as their "legacy". So you start by watching your parents go... Then your partner... Your siblings... Your friends...

So as selfish as this sounds, life is 1 game of "Mad Magazine" that I desperately want to win. I want to be the 1st to lose all my money, throw in the towel and call it quits. Come the day I start rolling the dice with Alfred E. Neuman, I want it to be a quick, crazy, hysterically funny ride to the finish line.

Death I can deal with. It's drawn out suffering, grief or loneliness that I can't handle.

Heh... I think I've been bitten by a SDB - a Skin Designing Bug. Can't seem to stop now that I've figured it out. Hahaha! Here's my latest work-in-progress, a Jay skin (Why do I so think you guys are not surprised?) that I've been working on for the last couple of days...

Let me know what you guys think... I find it kinda plain at the moment but I don't have the foggiest clue on how I should dress it up. Any suggestions?

About The VDK

Cheeeeeeesy Peeeeeeesy! :) Posted by Hello

I spent Valentine's Day (Well, actually, it was technically Valentine's Night!) the only way any sane person should... With friends. With my best friend. :)

Had a cheap cheap dinner @ some market near Balestier with Ray and Bra, then met up with a several other people - For that read Daphne, her 2 friends, Jac and Draggie - @ Shenton Way's Partyworld for karaoke. We proceeded to sing our throats hoarse by warbling and screeching from 8.30pm to 2am. We exhausted our entire repertoire of songs but it was bloody good fun... Hehehe...

I must say though... After that session and the one I went to with the team from work, I'm about all K-ed out. There's got to be something else to do in Singapore, no? *ponders*

About The Jong

I've played my 1st game of mahjong for 2005 - 2 rounds with Bra, Guy, Chris, Jiabin and Martha. It was good, especially since I've only played once in the last 10 months. Kinda amazing when I think back on how I use to jong with Jac and Shan every week.

2nd time's gonna be tomorrow @ Jiun's place. Heh... I didn't think she'd manage to get everything together in time but Ms Tang's apparently quite tenacious. We all got an SMS from her earlier this morning...

"Mahjong at mine tomorrow at 3pm. April, I've got all the necessary. Everyone ok?"

As Jas put it, we've been summoned. Hahaha... Should be good fun though. Wish me luck! Huat ah!

Update: As of Saturday, February 12, 2005... 4.30am...
Believe it or not, I just finished ANOTHER round. Met Jac and Draggie for drinks at Holland. Wanted to karaoke after that but the stupid Party World @ Clementi closed at 1am. After exhausting all our phone books to find a 4th, we ended up playing 3-leg jong. Sheesh... Talk about making up for lost time. Gawd I'm sleepy... How to focus tomorrow @ Jiun's place sial?!

About Designing Skinnies

Hah! I've done another skin, this one entirely from scratch and 100% of my own design! I've named it "Dear Diary"... Like it? :)

Ok, it's a little cutesy but I figured that I needed a little sunshine cheer around my blog, seeing how angst-filled some of my entries can get. The last skin I downloaded and edited ("A Place To Call My Own") was nice but the design just seemed so sad and lonely! Haaaaa.

I'm punchy from too little sleep. Yawwwwwn...

About Them Skins

Heh... As you all can see, I've changed my blog skin... Got kinda sick of the pink and mauve tones I was using previously. Any comments on the new look? :)

For some reason though, the skin I downloaded and editted won't showcase any of the Chinese characters in my posts, which is highly annoying. I can see them well enough when I preview the skin, but it goes all wonky after I republish my blog. Am in the midst of working this out but if any of you know a solution, I'm all ears! :)

By the way, besides
http://www.blogskins.com, would you guys know of any good sites that offer free blog skin downloads?

About Reunion Dinners

I can't make up my mind as to whether I like reunion dinners... On one hand, I relish every opportunity to have a meal at home, seeing how rarely I get to do so. On the other hand, I always end up feeling kinda sick cos I overeat due to the copious amounts of yummy food available. Urgh... *wraps arms around tummy and groans* Thank god I don't eat like this everyday.

Heh... Can't seem to write all that coherently with all this food inside me. Am now lazing around watching "Fatt Choi Spirit" with Jarrod. Although they show this every year during CNY, I don't seem to get sick of watching it... *burps*

About My Posts

Everyone seems to be griping about the amount of "Jay" content in my blog. No one seems to notice that out of the last 5 entries I've posted up, only 1 is about him. Sheesh... Anyway, whatever happened to the freedom of expression?! At the risk of sounding like a spoilt brat, this is my blog and I can write about anything that tickles my fancy. Don't like it, don't read it. Nyeaaaahhh! :P

Ok. Too much beer earlier. Gonna go sleep before I topple over onto my keyboard. :)

Now I'm a fan but I swear this is a major rip-off... They don't even look like him! Sheesh... And at US$79.99 for the whole set or US$16.99 each, I can safely say I'd rather spend the money on another concert ticket.

About 27

It just struck me that I'll be 27 in 2 months... Maybe it's the talk Jac and I had just now, maybe it's the damn song I happened to be listening to, all of a sudden I feel kinda sad, and a little lost...

When I was in my teens, I was so sure that I'd have myself all sorted out by the time I was 25 - I'd know what I was suppose to do with my life, I'd have found out the purpose of my existence, I'd be living everyday with drive, zest and enthusiasm. The next thing I know, 10 years have flashed past and I'm no closer to figuring myself out today than I was at 17...

Part of me misses those beliefs. The ones where I just knew that life had so much in store for me, where I was utterly confident that I was going to be great and successful and happy. Every birthday was just another step in that direction, bringing me a year closer to the age where I would achieve all that I was suppose to achieve. There seemed to be a million things to look forward to...

As I grew older, however, every birthday started to resemble a huge neon sign - flashing a list of my failures for the world to see. Being the proud person that I am, failure was a bitter pill to swallow, one that got bigger with each passing year.

So, in a way, coming to terms with the realization that most of those dreams were just that - imaginings unaffected by the burden of responsibilities and the harsh reality of life - has given me a sense of peace I've not felt in a long time. (Geez, that was a long sentence!) I no longer feel such a strong need to prove myself, or to live up to the route I'd mapped out way back when. Some friends say I've become jaded, others think I've finally grown up enough to look at life realistically, without the blind idealism of youth.

Whoever is right, the bottom line is, I'm slowly learning to be content with what I've got. There are times (Like now!) when I mourn a little over the loss of gleeful anticipation and wonder if I'm settling for less than I should... The good thing is, life, with its pesky demands, usually intrudes quickly enough to distract and prevent me from becoming too depressed.

That doesn't mean that I'm looking forward to turning 27 though. Especially since I have the feeling that the 1 person I want with me won't be there. Heh... Maybe I should stop listening to Landy, huh?

About Best Friends

Jac & Me @ Melbourne's L'in Contro Posted by Hello

Ok, since I'm sitting here with nothing to do as I wait for Jac to get off work, let me babble a little about the best friend who regularly drives me nuts. Heh...

Gawd... It's been, what, about 6 years since we got to know each other. More than 2,190 days since I started talking to this "Dumpie" person on IRC about tattoos. Hahaha... Yep, that's how we met. Internet Relay Chat. *smirks* I still remember having the impression that "Dumpie" was a guy. *guffaws* Anyway, our conversations progressed from body modification to other topics and I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only was "Dumpie" female, but that we had a truckload of stuff in common!

The 1st time we met in person didn't go that well though, probably due to the lack of alcohol present at Forum's Coffee Bean. Hehe... Things sure as hell took off when we met up again at Zouk a few weeks later for a John Digweed gig. The rest, as they say, was history...

Since then, we've done and seen a lot - Some of it on our own, most of it (I'm glad to say) together.

It's hard to express what Jac's come to mean to me. She's become such an integral part of my life, I can barely remember what it was like before I had her. We've had our differences, we've let each other down before and we'll most likely do so again, but I can't imagine our friendship ever ending. She's the one person I can trust never to judge, the one who I know truely understands me, the sister of my soul. :)

Sniff... Gee, I think I'm gonna cry. :P

About My Obsession

Here's something J found on the www.jay-chou.net website. Bloody funny.

10 signs that you're obsessed with Jay Chou...

1. You suddenly start wearing skirts, grow your hair long, and make a point to shut up at all costs because you want to be the type of girl he likes.
Hahaha... I've got the long hair and skirt bits down. The shutting up's gonna be a problem. For him though, I'll sure as hell try!

2. Even if he looks like crap in a picture, you're still convinced that he looks as hot as ever.
But he does! He can shave his head and paint his face blue and he'd still be crappy hot! :P

3. You plan to get a car with the number plates JAY1943.
I don't. The only thing I plan to be riding is him. Hahaha! ;)

4. You decide to take up everything Jay has an interest in. So you start playing basketball, practice with nunchuks, watching Doraemon and Jet Li movies, eating at Kentucky Fried Chicken, learning magic tricks, taking piano/cello/drum/accordion lessons, cutting off all the sleeves from your t-shirts, wearing baseball caps. And you stop wearing underwear.
Well, I'll consider the underwear bit. Especially if he's gonna be around me a lot. Who the heck would need underwear then?! *chuckles*

5. You start to stand and walk beside any guy who is 173cm tall, to feel how it's like to walk with Jay himself one day.
Heh... Height isn't really an issue with me so I haven't done this. Yet.

6. You want to befriend everyone you come across that has the surname "Chou", just in case they're related to him.
Hmmm... Come to think of it, I don't know a single "Chou" besides Jay.

7. You passionately defend people who wear no underwear.
Seeing that I'm about to join their club, you can bet your ass that I'll start!

8. You make a list of Jay-Related holidays: Jay's Birthday - Jan 18th. Debut Album Release Date - Nov 1st. First time I heard a Jay Song. First time I saw Jay Chou in Person. And you celebrate them.
Hahaha! Now that's an idea!

9. You go to Taiwan for a holiday but instead of taking photos of the attractions you take phots of the REAL attraction - the Jay poster on the wall! And you have to get it from every angle and ponder from which side Jay's nose look cuter from.
J, with her amazing sense of timing, messaged me on MSN just before I read this line and said - "I swear the more I look at him, the more infatuated I am with him. LET'S GO TO TAIWAN!" (She's watching the "The One" concert VCD I lent her. Heh...)

10. You start to notice the places in his songs when he pauses and takes a breath, and giggle every time because you think it's so cute. (He's breathing! Eeeee! So cute!)
Uh oh, that sounds familiar... *blush*

About My State Of Bliss

Wu Yu Lun Bi! Wooohooo! Posted by Hello

Ok, the "Mask of Zorro" look on the DVD cover is a little over the top. Honestly though, who cares?! Hahaha... I've been gushing non-stop as I relive the entire concert again... Especially enjoyed watching and listening to him perform with Nan Quan Ma Ma, and the way he harmonized "Zhu Wo Sheng Ri Kuai Le" with Landy.

Sigh... *contented smile*

About The Chair

Omigawwwwwd... Posted by Hello

I can still remember the whole chair dance sequence he performed during "Yi Fu Zhi Ming". Although the whole thing reminded me of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" video, I loved it. He looked sooooooooo damn good. Gawd, somebody stop me before I drown in my own drool please. *grins* :P

About Me

Was bored so I decided to try this little Q&A thing I found on Ju's blog.

1. What is the geekiest part of your music collection?
The "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. From the musical, not the movie... Not that the difference makes it any less geeky. :P *sheepish grin*

2. What do you eat when you raid the fridge late at night?
I hardly raid the fridge since I usually go straight for the bags of Ruffles in the cupboard.

3. What is your secret guaranteed weeping movie?
"Armagaeddon". The bit at the end when Bruce Willis says his goodbyes to Liv Tyler. Bei tahan...

4. If you could have plastic surgery, what would you have done?
At the risk of sounding like a narrator for "Extreme Makeover"... Lipo. Botox. A nose job. A tummy tuck. Hell... Just gimme the works!

5. Do you have a completely irrational fear?
No. All my fears are completely justified and rational. Hah! :P

6. What is the little physical habit that gives away your insecure moments?
I bite my nails. Filthy habit, I know, I know!

7. Are you a pyromaniac?
The only reason I have an inkling what that means is because I'm an "X-Men" fan and I know that Pyro was the chappie who could manipulate fire. So, no, I guess I'm not. :P

8. So you have too many love interests?
Right now, there's only one. ;)

9. Do you know anyone famous?
If you're thinking "get-mobbed-while-walking-down-the-street-by-hordes-of-screaming-fans" famous, then, no, afraid I don't.

10. Describe your bed.
Lots of pillows and a fluffy feather quilt.

11. Are you spontaneous or planned?
A bit of both I guess... Depending on what the situation calls for.

12. Who would play you in a movie?
Angelina Jolie. Not because we have all that much in common but because I think she's the coolest actress in Hollywood. And I deserve only the best. *snorts with laughter*

13. Do you know how to play poker?
Yep.

14. What do you carry with you at all times?
My sophisticated demeanour. Hahaha! Ok ok, cigarettes. Yes, another filthy habit. Don't nag!

15. What do you miss most about being a kid?
Heaven was so much nearer and accessible as a kid. All you had to do was walk into Toys R Us! :)

16. Are you happy with your given name?
I am now. It's taken me a long time to get here. Heh...

17. How much money would it take to get you to give up the internet for one year?
It'll have to be in the millions, since I'll need lotsa extra cash to entertain myself with non-internet means.

18. What color is your bedroom?
Dusky pink, burgandy red and varying shades of purple. My mom claims it resembles a haphazard bordello. :

19. What was the last song you were listening to?
Nan Quan Ma Ma - "Xiang Cao Ba Bu". Still suffering from post-Jay-concert-in-KL syndrome!

20. Have you ever been in a play?
Yes. And no, I don't want to talk about it. *mumbles under breath*

21. Have you ever been in love?
Yes. And no, I don't want to talk about this either. :P

22. Do you talk a lot?
No. Haaaaaaaaaaahahahaha...

23. Do you like yourself and believe in yourself?
Most of the time. (That's the best answer I could think of without sounding utterly narcissistic!)

24. Do transient, homeless, or starving people sometimes annoy you?
No but I'm not exactly comfortable around them.

25. Do you consider yourself to be a nice person?
I could definitely be nicer, but where's the fun in that?

26. Do you spend more time with your boyfriend or your friends?
I'd like to think that I've split my time pretty fairly between the two in the past.

27. What is your ideal marriage location?
Europe in autumn. I think.

28. Which musical instrument do you wish you could play?
The guitar. I can so picture myself strumming and humming to myself for hours on end.

29. Favorite fabric?
Denim. Heh... It never gets dated, hardly crumples and matches everything in my closet.

30. Something you love and hate?
At the same time? Ahmmm... I'll get back to you after I've had a think... :)

31. What kind of bedding do you use?
Cotton. With a minimum threadcount of... Heh. Don't get me started. I can be a maniac on the topic of good quality bed linen.

32. What's the one language you want to learn?
French.

33. How do you eat an apple?
Wash it then chomp at it like crazy. *crunch*

34. What do you order at a bar?
Recently it seems to be a double Baileys on the rocks.

35. Have you ever pierced your body parts?
Just my ears, although I was really tempted to get a tongue stud while I was in Melbourne. Chickened out though... *blush*

36. Do you have tattoos?
Yep. Two of em. ;)

37. Do you drive a stick?
Do I what a huh?! *blinks*

38. Favorite trait of the opposite sex?
Broad shoulders.

Hypocrisy. I also seem to have an extremely low tolerance for stupidity. *grins*

40. What kind of watch do you wear?
I love Swatch!

41. Most frivolous purchase?

My iPod. Although I'm rationalizing it every way I can. :P

42. Do you consider yourself materialistic?
Dictionary definition of materialistic - The theory or attitude that physical well-being and worldly possessions constitute the greatest good and highest value in life. Which means that I am, to an extent. I like money. I like nice things. I just don't think they're the only important things in life.

43. What are you best at cooking?
Bah Kut Teh. I think.

44. Favorite writing instrument?
Any Pilot V7 blue pen.

45. Do you prefer to stand out or blend in?
I like being my own person. Whether or not that means I stand out or fade into the background doesn't really matter.

46. Would you ever go out dressed like the opposite sex?
No. Men's clothes are so boring.

47. What's one car you will never buy?
Never thought about it. I only know that the one car I would buy is the Audi TT Convertible. Aye carumba!

48. What kind of books do you like to read?
Murder mysteries.

49. If you won the lottery, what would you do?
Travel the world, and watch every single Jay Chou concert.

50. Burial or cremation?
Cremation. Burial = Coffin and earth = Worms and maggots = Major case of ewwwww...

51. How many online journals do you read regularly?
Current count is 5.

52. What's one thing you're a loser at?
Ball games. Lousy hand eye co-ordination. Heh...

Flirt outrageously? ;)

54. Do you cry in front of your friends?
Yes.

56. What's one thing you like to do alone?
Read.

57. Are you a giver or a taker?
That depends on who's on the receiving end. :)

58. When's the last time you cried?
Hahaha... I was bawling my eyes out as I watched the last season of Sex and The City. *sheepish grin*

59. Favorite communication method?
I like the whole face-to-face thing, although MSN seems to be the only thing I have time for nowadays. *sigh*

60. How many drinks before you're tipsy?
Nowadays? 3. I'm becoming a cheap drunk in my old age. :(

61. Do you think you're cute?
Puh-lease. I'm gorgeous. :D

62. Do you have problems changing clothes in front of friends?
Nope.

About The 3rd Gift

Oh! In the excitement of the KL trip, I almost forgot to mention that he swung by on Thursday night to pick me up from work. I'd driven myself half nuts the entire week, worrying that he'd get some bug up his butt and run out to buy the damn DVD after our conversation the week before. I don't think I could take another "Four Rooms" fiasco, would probably end up breaking the DVD over his head and shoving the shards up his, errr, nether regions. :P

Anyway, he liked it. It was a good gift. *grins* I'm a happy, happy girl. :)

A Good Gift At Last Posted by Hello

About Our Trip (Part 2)

My previous post ended off with our escapades with the dead rat. Heh... Well, here's part 2 of April's and her exciting trip to KL...

DAY 2 - SATURDAY, 29 JANUARY

The noise...
Since we didn't get to club the night before, we showered and dragged our butts down to Zouk where we met Bryant and his friend Eric for a drink. We tried, and failed miserably, to enjoy the thumping, pounding beat of the music DJ Crush was slamming out. I could practically feel my brain melt and leak out of my ears in long, gooey, purple drips. We ended up at the Terrace Bar listening to old-school 80s music and sipping our 2nd drink instead. :)

The gushing...
I can still remember the 1st thing Bryant said when he saw me. It went something like, "Omigod the concert omigod omigod omigod. He was sooooooooooo good!" Hahaha... We then proceeded to gush and simper and squeal about all our favorite bits of the performance for the next 15 minutes.

The Bah Kut Teh...
By 230, we were more than prepared to leave and adjourn to Jalan Alor for supper. Although most of the stalls were already closed by the time we arrived, we still managed to enjoy chicken satay, porridge and the yummiest Bah Kut Teh I've had in a long time. It was especially heavenly for my poor throat, which was all sore and hoarse from the screaming I did at the concert. The rest of the night passed in a sort of blur. I was so fatigued from our day I can barely recall cabbing back to the hotel, packing, washing up and collapsing into bed.

----------

DAY 3 - SUNDAY, 30 JANUARY

The coffee shop...
We slept in till 11.30, checked out and had a quick lunch at a nearby coffee shop before we left for Petaling Jaya. It was good... The chicken rice and roast pork I had was awfully yummy, which means I ate way more than I should have. I rationalized it by saying that I lost at least 3 pounds from the night before. Hee...

We also saw a promotion poster for the concert, although some idiot had tried to be funny and given Jay a moustache that made him look like a Japanese mafia member. Dohhh... Hahaha...

Jay Poster @ Coffee Shop Posted by Hello

The shopping continues...
We reached 1 Utama at about 130. In a nutshell, we went a little mad doing our last minute shopping. I ended up with yet another pair of shoes from Vinci, 2 t-shirts and a pair of shorts from WH and a really cute halter top from some little shop. After having coffee at Dome, we decided to leave, head back to Dorsett to pick up our bags and catch our 515 bus back to Singapore. Gave ourselves a bit of a scare because we couldn't get a cab, the sky was threatening to unleash a massive thunderstorm and traffic looked horrendous. Thankfully, we managed to reach the bus departure point with time to spare (Even with Jas and her missing phone charger!), where we boarded the bus and promptly fell asleep for most of the journey back...

The end...
And so the tale ends with our 4 heroines coming back to another week at work. Yet more FAs to disk out, more crazy deadlines to meet, more unreasonable and fussy clients to pacify, more gritting our teeth and bearing with it all till we go on leave on the 7th of February. I'm counting the days already...
