3.35pm
Arrived at the salon.
3.45pm
Hair is trimmed to desired length.
4pm
White gunk applied to the roots - I'm told it's a "softener" to make my hair more "pliable". Right. Ok.
4.45pm
Stuck under a heater that resembles an intergalactic spaceship and fries my earlobes.
5pm
More white gunk applied, this time to the ends of my hair.
5.10pm
All white gunk rinsed off... Hair is then blown dry before Jefernie and an assistant arm themselves with straightening irons.
6.10pm
Breathed a sigh of relief as flat ironing of hair is completed. Hair colour - a non-ammonia type which is supposedly a new product - applied to cover my myriad of greys.
6.40pm
Caught myself spacing out while trying to read an outdated issue of HER WORLD. Brought back to reality by nagging pain in my butt from sitting still for over 3 hours...
7.30pm
Head is scrubbed, rubbed and washed repeatedly... I feel clean. Very clean.
7.50pm
More white gunk applied to hair - Treatment this time - before it's covered by a poofy balloon-like cap which inflates with cool steam. So this is what it's like to be a conehead.
8.10pm
Hair is rinsed for the last time, blown dry and trimmed.
8.30pm
Exited salon with a silent "TADAH!" resounding in my head, in a vain attempt to make myself feel better for spending $650 on something as frivolous as my hair.
$310 for rebonding
$245 for colour
$85 for treatment
8.40pm
Took cab after buying Subway for dinner.

About The Father
Dear Dad,
Sometimes I wonder whether I'll regret not being a part of your life. And I wonder how I'll feel when I no longer have the option of thinking "Maybe later..." and "Not now..."
But mostly, I just think if you truly wanted to make things better, you would've.
Your daughter.
